How many of you guys actually keep chickens and rear them for the table ??

I have mixed feelings about it - I like the idea of knowing exactly where the food has come from and the life it has lead but not sure when push comes to shove i could do it

Start here and ask yourself can I do this ?

Good luck, if I had more room then I would.

Dazza, when it comes to making them table ready, send them out to a reliable slaughter place. That will make it easier on you and you'll be sure to get properly killed food. I did my own chickens the first year and found it very time consuming. I sent them out the next year and was very surprised to find one had somehow contracted diptheria and had to be disposed of. So, it was well worth the money to know I wasn't eating an infected bird.  Otherwise, they're a laugh to watch and be around, although a regular demand to feed, water, keep cool in summer and protect from others hoping to mooch free meals.
