Plant id please!
« on: June 11, 2015, 21:38 »
Hello everybody :nowink:

My neighbour gave me a plant out of his garden that is quite interesting. He's not sure what it is and neither am I?

Could anyone enlighten us?!

Thank you
Martin

Can you post another pic with leaves as that would help and see if the flowers stay as they are or open up.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Looks a lot like Oxalis, doesn't it?

It's a weed I wish I didn't have in my garden. The seed pods explode, throwing them everywhere!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I agree DD - oxalis and the seeds pinging everywhere are something to be wary of when deciding if and where you are going to plant it Elmarto.

The purple one is sometimes offered for sale as an alpine. Guess you only ever have to buy it once

I actually planted the common pink oxalis on my rockery, it flowers it's socks of and it doesn't spread at a rate of knots - unlike the yellow one which I have in patches on the plot!

Thanks for the replies, it's definitely oxalis, purple one! I have seen that it is a house plant, I have put it in the bed in the front garden will see how it goes!

I'm guessing it's a bit if a thug, I did let rose bay willow herb thing flower so it has competition!  :D
