Is it me or has anyone else experienced slow growth of most of their veg so far this year once planted out?

I am sure tomatoes and beans grow faster in my garden at home than on the plot!

Perhaps the dry weather, then cooler blasts in between the sunny periods is keeping thigs slowed down??

I hate these Easterly winds combined with the sun it dries the ground out faster than I can water - give me a warm  Westerly any day!

Its taking its time though WG... or am I just impatient?
No rain forecast here for another week or so which is 2 dry weeks again!!
I am sure the weather is tilted down here we get long periods with no rain then periods were it rains solid for a day or two, there is no happy medium anymore of rain couple times a week interspersed with sunshine.

Yes all veg I am growing is slow this year. Just got a feeling it will not be a great year for me. And also after losing my toms, courgettes and sweetcorn to the frost last week I will not be planting out till mid june next year.
I CAME LATE TO THIS GAME, BUT IT'S IN THE BLOOD. I TRY TO BE ORGANIC BUT SORRY HAVE TO USE THE SLUG PELLETS.

I was down at my friends allotment just now and commented to the puppy (no one else there!!   )  that the spuds they planted in the allotment a couple of weeks before mine were planted in the garden, are looking very weedy indeed and the plants are only half the size of mine.  Their's are beginning to flower though.  Same batch of seed spuds coz they got theirs from me!  Their french beans (also from me) are also looking quite weedy and insignificant compared to mine, which aren't great but are ok.  But they have had no water this year til last week on site other than the odd bottle brought from home and the rain at the beginning of may so it may be water deprivation down the lottment.  The peas I put in down there though are doing as well as the ones at home so obviously don't mind water deprivation quite so much!
