following this years rainfest in Liverpool, when most of my stuff was destroyed in flooding or by blight, i'm looking for a bit of advice from some of you more experienced people.

I'm currently trying to plan ahead and sort out next years growing, while spending the winter months sorting out some proper raised beds to try and combat the poor drainage on a clay soil lottie. What are the best potatoes to go for, in terms of where i am and the type of soil, and which are most resistant to blight as i want to be as organic as possible.
any help and ideas will be greatly appreciated.

cheers
trying to be organic

My best tip would to ask others at your lottie, local knowledge is usually best.  :D
He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

For blight resistance, you can't touch the "Sarpo" varieties - "Mira" & "Saxona".
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I've heard from lots of sources that they are not very high in the taste stakes. Could be wrong though :?

They're not, but at least you get a crop! They are also highly slug resistant. There are many ways you can "up" the flavour of them when cooking, though.

Use as baked spuds with filling of your choice, throw something in when you mash 'em, herbs, pepper etc..... Use your imagination!

I find they are not any different in flavour delivery to a lot of 'main stream' grown potatoes, Definitely not your best flavour, but then also not much to phew about them.
