ok guys I haven't even got my offer of an allotment yet but I sure want to be sure it's going to arrive and I'm pretty sure all you allotmenteers out there love your plots and would hate to lose them so here's the deal......please hit the link in my signature and sign the petition for the Prime minister to esnsure the safety of our allotments and to keep them alive....takes 2 mins of your time but could safe guard the right to grow your own for a long time to come :)

thanks in advance

swee'pea :)

I haven,t heard that the Govt, was going to take them off us.
I used to work in a helium gas factory, but I walked out, no one talks to me like that.

No, but there do seem to be several incidences lately where councils are selling off some allotments for house building!

I've signed!!

Although I have signed I strongly suggest joining the big allotment groups that have proper lawyer type ppl to fight the cause. If you join as a group it is cheaper so if your site is  not a member than get the commitee to look into it.

I've signed too.
We're currently on a private site.  We did look at council one's first, however, the nearest one was in a disgusting state, with no tenants.  I could slightly make out the shape of what used to be plots, from a hill above it or I would had walked straight on by.
I mentioned this to a few people and a few of them suggested that this is beneficial to the council, as they then can say that there is no demand for the allotments, and then stand a better chance of selling them on.  Is this right?

Thanks

Lee

I have signed.
I am on a statutory site but even though statutory sites wanted for other uses must have ministerial permission before they can be taken back by the council, I still don't think this gives any of us security of tenure - just buys us a bit more time I s'pose...
