Manure
« on: August 13, 2017, 10:52 »
Hi, has anyone bought manure online? There are a few companies I've had a look at and we need one that supplies it in carryable bags as our access isn't great (can't drive in). We also will need permission from neighbour for delivery vehicle to park on her drive so need company that can tell us when delivery will be! Any recommendations would be great. Thank you

you can get manure in compost bags on the side of the road next to stables or horse fields.  They vary in price from 20p a bag to 50p a bag.  If I need any, I line the boot of my car with plastic and toddle off to get some.  I can fit quite a few in one go.  Can you not find some like that and get it yourself?

Creative garden Ideas will deliver Levington Organic manure in 50L bags. They send email/txt the day before telling you when they expect to get there.
Free delivery over £30. It's not the cheapest way to get manure  as others have stated - but if it is your only option, this may help.

CPA Horticulture has been good for me. I order 36 75l bags of manure/mushroom compost mix every couple of years (£140). It  works a treat as it's soil conditioner AND nutrients combined. Free delivery depends on where you are but price is pretty competitive and their customer service is outstanding.
If you haven't got the space for 36 perhaps do a share with someone?

I have also found CPA to be very good, delivery is on a pallet and in each case driver has a little truck and has made every effort to go as far up the drive as I requested. Bags have been decent as well not as flimsy as some companies use - important if you are storing a while or need to carry into a polytunnel as I do. I buy biggest number I can even if then I don't buy again for a year or so hence storing a few.
