Hi All

Have at the moment a spray Jeyes detergent that I managed to find in a pound shop..
What is the best one to use for coop cleaning etc and where do you all buy it??

Can't see it anywhere...

as a liquid disinfectant, i use virkon s, it is mixed up and is a liquid, bacterial disinfectant. i now only use liquids in the coop as they dry, i try to keep any powders out of the coop, cuts down on the dust the chucks breathe in. poultry shield is good inside the coop for red mite.

stalosan f is a powder that i use in the run, again a bacterial powder disinfectant, sprinkle on the floor of the run.

both can be found in most chuck online stores, or good outdoor/equestrain shops

Hi Amy,
Although the title is Jeyes Fluid, you are using a detergent made by Jeyes (not the phenolic fluid). If the desire is for cleaning, not disinfection, then any surfactant will work, including washing up liquid. Look for 15% surfactants rather than 5% (more cost effective) if buying household detergents. Patio cleaners are often strong detergents; no odour but you could add one if the chooks wanted it  . Wear gloves as they can damage skin, and be careful in a coop where you may have to look up at the area you're cleaning and protect yur eyes. All these detergents need to be rinsed out whereas many bacteriocides are intended to be left to dry - see grumpydads suggestions. HTH
