Title: Anyone Have Experience of OLD Macpenny Mist Control Units (blue metal Casing)
Post by: pookey on April 28, 2012, 10:24
Hi, I recently bought an old style macpenny mist control unit from a shop clearance sale.  It has blue metal housing.  I bought a 24V AC solenoid valve to go with it but once I set it all up the solenoid has gone faulty and just keeps blowing the fuse in the control unit (There is no resistance readng from solenoid).  IS this the right solenoid for the unit?  I dont want to buy another for it to go wrong too.  I phoned macpenny and they arent sure what solenoid.

Any help much appreciated.

Have you measured the output from the controller to see what the voltage is?
A solenoid of 24v sounds right, with its contacts, either normally open or NC should match the output of the controller so if its more than 24v you need to transform it down.

edit: may be different to the old heath robbinson system i had,is your solenoid inside the controller?
