I'm looking to grow strawberries through membrane - thought it would save on the weeding - with straw on top.  Anyone had success with this?  If so, have you a supplier you would recommend to buy the membrane off?

I don't have a particular supplier but I would go for heavy duty woven stuff, with the maximum width possible.

The one to look for is Mypex if your budget will stretch to it.  It's what the commercial nurseries use.

Best deal I have found is at the local gaden centre 10m for £3 - equates to 100m for £30.00 cheapest around on the net.  So I just double layer it on the floor and jobs a gooding.
