My little Pekin "Wynona" who is a mummy at the moment to 8 chicks, is looking really thin and scraggy. She was broody for a long time before the chicks, I tried to deter her but gave in eventually. She had quite a bald head and I assumed she was moulting. Now, her feathers are coming back on her head but she is really quite thin and her feathers don't look good. Could this be a late post baby moult or is it likely to be something else

If you've checked her (and her house) over for lice and mites then she probably just needs feeding up.

I must admit I haven't done a lice check for a while. All the others seem to be fine so I think I assumed we were lice free. Will check that tomorrow. They get pellets and a special grain mix together with oyster shell. I also give them a large lettuce 2/3 times a week and/or a big dark green cabbage. Should I carry on with Layers pellets do you think or should I give them the ones that fatten chooks for the table. I am not getting any eggs at the moment apart from the ducks. Also, is it okay to add cat or dog food :?:
