Double Egger?
« on: July 13, 2011, 12:19 »
One of my chooks has laid an egg, it looks like two eggs joined together.
Its kind of kidney bean shaped, and wont fit in the egg box.

Is this normal?
We use chemicals in this garden, just as god intended

Are they young/old?

If its a young bird coming into lay this can happen, or an old bird coming out of lay?

Sure some one will be along soon with more info
I hate signatures but love irony

No advice, I'm afraid, but any chance of a pic? I'm intrigued.  :)

If its a young bird this can be normal from what ive seen, sometimes takes them a couple of goes to drop into a normal cycle.

Can get double yokers, double shelled, no shell at all!

Keep an eye on here and she will prolly settle down shorly

Me too :)

Is there a thread for us to post pictures of all our weird & wonderful eggs? One of my girls laid the strangest egg this morning (well, compared to some of her others), she is new to laying and really likes to keep us guessing of what we might find.

it would be good to compare our eggs (like the poop thread), especially for us newbies.

This intrigued me to google "double egg".  It bought up something rather different on youtube.  An egg within an egg!!!  Now that was weird!
The glass is neither half empty or half full - it is simply the incorrect size! Find a new glass!

Dominic I have moved your photo to the poultry information section:-

http://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=80693.msg903519

and is perfectly normal - the join may be just where she took a breather whilst laying  :).

So was it a double yolker?

I shall let you know tomorrow, it is either going into eggs in baskets for breakfast or Kugal for tea, probably kugal, because its too big for baskets.

It really does look like the big two thirds of one egg welded to the big third of another
