Also, if you like rocket then grow it and let one plant set seed - then you'll have a permanent patch of it :)

Luckily I did after another teacher I was working with was absolutely distraught because some of our charges were caught squeezing and sucking the berries.

Some fuchsias are quite good - almost cherry flavoured. I sneakily sample them at work when we miss a deadhead  ;)

The Good King Henry that is mentioned in DD's link is a good one.  I grew it for the chickens, but they only really like the seeds ::)  The flowering stems can be picked just before they come out, as a veg.  Bit like Aztec Brocolli but larger scale. You can also use the leaves, but they are a bit coarser than spinich.  Steamed and chopped they are fine  :)

Gaultheria is a nice shrub with edible berries of various colours and Leycesteria (Himalayan honeysuckle) produces edible fruits and is very beautiful, especially the golden/lime leaved varieties. :)

The victorians used to eat dandelions :D I hear they grow pretty well.

There's even a bit about growing them (possibly forcing them) in boxes in one of the Dr Hessyon books, IIRC.

I grow mine in a bath tub on the plot part filled with compost as like the JA, once established you will get rogue tubers sprouting in a bed.  The foliage and flower look similar to mint but not as invasive.  It can take a year or two for the first tubers to get going so not a huge harvest but once established, you should get a steady supply.  The tubers are fairly small about an inch or so long and rather ugly but taste lovely raw in salads.  http://www.victoriananursery.co.uk/Chinese_Artichoke_Tuber_Crosnes/ or http://www.mr-fothergills.co.uk/seeds-plants-gardening/40229/artichoke-chinese-x20-tubers
