Not grown Rasps before so any hints tips with how best to proceed with this would be greatly appreciated..

Cheers  :)
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

They are actually on 3 for £10 at the moment as well, got 2 rasp + a red currant. It is also 10% weekend, so only cost £3 each plant

If your ground is workable you can plant them now. If not, the plant will keep in its container in a cool place for a while yet then plant asap.

Depends on the variety how soon you can harvest, but it you keep them well watered and well manured every year, you'll get more berries than you can handle. You might also want to net in your crop against birds who also love berries.

So I'll get 10% off this weekend ?

And how developed are they ? I bought some from Lidl in October and they were just rooted cuttings ?

I don't know anything about the homebase ones but I think general feedback re lidl bushes has been ok.

And if they're only £3 each, it hardly breaks the bank if they don't work.

I'd go for it.  If they're in pots it might be worth checking whether they have a decent root system, tho'.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Blueberries need ericaceous soil/compost, i.e. lime free and acidic, so too much bother around here. :(
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

The home base plants are really substantial, there are 2/3 canes on each plant. They did do cheaper ones, at £2 each (I think), but they were just one cane in a bag of compost. I had this sort last year and they were not successful and I was hoping the bigger plants would at least survive.

At the moment i have kept them in their pots in our lean-too but plan on planting them today.

I didn't see any blueberry plants in our homebase, otherwise I would have got one. They did have a few varieties of raspberries (3 diff ones I think), red currant, balck currant, black berry and gooseberries.

If you go on the homebase website they are selling 10 raspberry canes for £9.99
p&p is £4.84 but as homebase is in conjunction with "crocus" you could type in code 9259 at the checkout and recieve 10% off

10 canes  (im going for Autumn bliss) for £13.83 (£1.38 each)
