If you can get hold of some fence stakes or bits of old pipe, drive them into the end pallets just to keep them steady. I'm lucky, I can tie mine to the fence.
This time of year I would pile everything in and cover it with a bit of old carpet, plastic etc, weighted down with bricks or something. In the spring give it a good stir or better still, shovel the compost from one bin to the other and it will rot down better.
Personally I wouldn't worry what it looks like, it's a compost bin on an allotment.

LOL, Im not worried about appearances believe me, Im more of a function over form person :-)

my 3 bins are now up, only 1 has a front at the moment, but I have already over half filled  2 of the bays, one with green stuff and one with 3/4 composted woody stuff..

A piece of old carpet on the top will keep too much rain out and stop it getting wet and sour.
doesn't carpet leach all sorts of nasty chemicals?
Lotty holder since Aug 09... I've FINALLY finished clearing it! On with the p.lanting  ....

Not if it's wool carpet.

Hmmmmm, that could be a problem as these are foam backed i think and i have no idea how to tell it's wool?

Don't use the foam backed type.  The synthetic rubber foam will crumble off after a while and get into your compost.

I have done mine the same way! I held the front in place by bashing in a couple of stakes so they hold the bottom of the front pallet in place then simply tying in the top of the front pallet to the sides. I also bashed in a stake at each corner of the sides to give them a bit more stability.Mine has lasted 3 years now and is doing fine - you will need to cover it though. I did not the first year and stuff kept growing!
