"Charles Dowding maintains as do some others that blight can only survive on living material, so composting blighted material shouldn’t allow blight to spread in the compost once used."

The RHS seem to disagree.

I have the good fortune to have a very good municipal compost facility near me.  It is a high-temperature process.  All my vegetable garden debris goes to that. At home I compost leaves, grass, and some household produce waste (that's allowed here, we have enough coyotes, foxes, hawks and owls that we never see mice or rat problems).

Rowland, in the back garden, it's mostly hawks and owls, but they are quite frequent visitors!  We tend to see or hear them on a daily basis, and they do hunt and nest right here, we usually have a hawk nest in our trees, or the neighbors, every year.

The foxes and coyotes mostly keep the general area outside our fence vermin-free (which also keeps the area INSIDE our fence vermin-free!  :D
