A couple of US makers have restarted production of the wheel hoe but the tools look to be pressed steel rather than the heavy duty forgings of the ja-lo. Merry Tillers could be provided with two different sets of accessories, one lot used ja-lo tools and the other used 5/8” square bar and clamps so some “Merry Tiller” accessories are actually ja-lo. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Merry-Tiller-Potato-Ridger-/130655904557?pt=UK_Home_Garden_GardenPowerTools_CA&hash=item1e6bb2e32d

It looks an interesting old-style tool but I bet it's heavy to push.

Looks can be deceptive, its surprisingly easy once one gets the hang of it.

In my search for an extremely well hidden Rotavator (thanks Grandad!) I found various attachments for the Jalo in a shed. Thanks for the links anyway.  :)

It is quite light, I was tempted to use it on the 10m x 7m area I weeded today but my muscles were telling me that a sit down with Coffee and Jammie Dodgers would be preferable.

R Tallentire, that is exactly one of the attachments I found today, in fact I fitted it and left it on.

I have been using our Jalo today with the 2 hoe blades same as those that are fitted in the photos on this thread.
The task was to loosen and scuffle the gravel on the front drive prior to giving it a raking out with spring tine and Chellwood rakes.

We find the Jalo a very useful item....although perhaps other properties have a John Deere mini tractor and drag mat instead..??!!

I do now need a sit down, coffee and jammie dodger. ;)

After all that effort and burning off the calories you could have had two jammie dodgers!!  ;)
