« on: January 12, 2009, 08:46 »
I used to water my step dads tomato plants and I seem to remember 3 plants per grow bag, does this sound right?

Depends on the bag.

Should say on it, but it's generally 3.

I use grow bags, but empty them into large pots!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Oh right, why's that Digs?

I was copying what my step dad did, is it a watering thing?

I have some 10 "  pots that are about 10 and half deep, would they be okay?

No more questions after these on growing toms from me  honest

Thanks Karen

Yes it's more of a watering thing, for me anyway. I find grow bags are very prone to drying out & this can led to problems with blossom end rot. (This is down to calcium delivery to the fruit).

It's also easier for the neighbours to water if I'm away!

I do mine this way ,the bottom of the pot is cut out and filled with compost out of another grow bag (3 to a bag) ,makes it very easy for watering

feed the soil not the plants
organicish
