Hmmm interesting. Have some Polish friends, must see if they have a good recipe for beetroot.

Although they seemed hooked on sour kraut yuck.

Will have a google too see what i can find.  :)

Believe it or not, doctors recommend kraut juice to heal ulcers and assorted stomach problems. It's very good for you. And just ask most Russians, Poles and Ukranians to smile for you - they all have excellent teeth thanks to cabbage and kraut. Lots of calcium in that there stuff.

This year I'm trying a variety called Barabietola di Chioggia which I'm hoping will end up pinky white stripy inside...

... this year and from one 16ft row I had tiny beets early on and ended up being able to pull beetroot right through til December.  The last ones were still good, hadn't gone woody, nor had anyone had a nibble at em before I got the chance!

For the last few seasone I have grown Alto, these always produce a good crop for me on my sany soil, I always start them off in trays then transplant them when their bed is ready, I did try boltardy last year but I struggled, think it was more to do the hot weather and my sandy soil drying out to quick which is why I stick with Alto, its a long root.
