I would like to find out if anything can be done for our poorly looking apple tree. I did give the tree a bit of a prune last December, just removed some crossing branches up to around 3" diameter, and thin ones that were a tangled mess. Photo's  to help with anyone's opinion.

The fruit have Brown rot see here https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?pid=114  The initial damage may have been caused by Apple Sawfly,Codling Moth also referred to in the link.

I don't think there's much wrong with the leaves that wouldn't be explained by this years weird weather (in other words my tree's leaves look much the same)

Thank you mumofstig, I can take some heart at least, from knowing that I didn't do any real damage by pruning last year. I will try the couple of advise pieces that are in the brown rot link.
