Last year (and this) I fed my toms with the levington slow release plugs. Last year they did well, so they're getting the same this year too. The thing is; when I pot up in the final position, I put the plugs in at the same time, well before the first truss has set, so I'm actually feeding them too soon according to recognised methods. It didn't seem to have any adverse effects on the amount of fruiting they did at the expense of foliage growth.
