Todays Harvest - my first harvest post

Having only started this allotment malarky back in may i'm amazed that we have even go this far.

We have been eating our own lettuce and radish for a while, but we got a good harvest today..

We picked our coriander seeds ready for drying, we have some dill in flower too for the same purpose

Next some carrot thinnings and beetroot.

And some more lettuce and our first peas to make it out of the allotment!

We also had an explore and found some deserted land, being only in shorts i got stung to bits, but it was worth it, we picked 650g of ripe blackberries

There must be 10,000 or more berries in there, and as it seems no one goes in there we will be harvesting to our hearts content for the next month!!

Yeah it is very satisfying, we are doing it all organically, and we have lost some stuff to bugs/slugs and the rest.

the beets have been boiled and tasted, and we have given pickling a go, we'll see how they turn out. The next lot are going to be roasted and eaten!!

Tonight we are having mashed spuds, quorn and mushroom casarole, and fresh peas and carrots.. can't wait!

This year we are finding our feet so anything we produce is a bonus, next year it will be more informed and hopefully more productive.

My cultivated blackberries are weeks away from harvesting yet, jealous here!  Mind you I think that picking wild berries seems to be going out of fashion, I often see thousands just left on bushes near me.  time was they'd have been stripped even if only by kids scrumping.  got some tiny weeny little swedes too so looking forward to those when bigger and am roasting some spuds as I write as they are too floury now to boil sadly.  but like you am hoping next year to be more informed and better prepared.
