The leaves are curling round and inside are lots of white/grey eggs and creatures. Are they leaf curling aphids? And most importantly how do i deal with them? So far i have cleaned the leaves off or cut them off altogether but something tells me this is not right.

Probably mealy aphid.

You can clean them, squish them or spray them. I wouldn't cut too many leaves off as they are the plant's food factory.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Do you spray them with anything specific? It's my car day today so if it needs to be bought I can go and get it.

Providing you're not organic - most proprietry insecticides will do the job - just have a look at the label.

If you put a pair of gloves on (for the slightly squeemish like myself) you can rub them off (and squishing in the process) quite easily.

I did brush and crush quite a few - I found the crushing part disturbingly satisfying!

you can also spray some diluted washing up liquid on them - it'll only kill the ones already on the leaves & stems but will not prevent future outbreaks.
Failure is only a temporary change in direction to set you straight for your next success.
Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.

If you're organic then soft soap is excellent.

I use a 2% solution of it
