Title: Trimming onion seedlings
Post by: andyww2013 on February 28, 2019, 19:41
Hi,

I was browsing some videos on onion growing and a few of them advocated trimming the tops of onion seedlings with scissors.

Is this normal practice, cosmetic or does it actually result in a better plant?

Can't think of any benefits. However any cut is a potential site of infection.

I think it's done if they're early sowings and they're a touch leggy. Guess it could prompt the plant to start growing extra leaves too.
