Title: Kilner jar leaking
Post by: Yvonne Petherbridge on September 12, 2019, 11:02
I am preserving my apples in sugar syrup. I am using kilner jars and a hot bath method. Does anyone know why the apple is leaking from a couple of the seals?

Are the seals new? Could be perished if not new or have something stopping it sealing properly maybe.

A friend has just had to replace the seals on her jars, they were leaking.    They are readily available in Wilko, Poundland, Robert Dyas etc.  Good Luck,  Mrs Bouquet

If the jar rims, lids and seals all looked ok, it's possible you overfilled the jars. AS the contents heated and rose in the jar, they may have overflowed little, which stops them sealing as they cool.
