Good morning everyone,
while overseas I read a book(!) about the goings on in a medieval village. I believe this book was one of a series of books named after the village of Akenfield.
Does anyone know how to download this book for free onto my mobile phone so I can read it and see if it is the book I remember?
Cheers, Tony. 8)

Having just giggled it, it is a made-up name of a village called Akenham and was made into a film by Peter Hall in 1974. Akenfield: Portrait of an English Village by Ronald Blythe (1969).

It is available on Amazon Kindle. You can download a sample for free to any device.

All I can remember is a chap going to Norwich saying, 'Forty miles there, and forty miles back', and whenever we wonder about any distance when out travelling, it's always 'forty miles...'!
I think Peter Hall had some connection with Mrs Growster's college, so she made us all watch it back then!
