Think I will stick some slug pellets in the trench before I stick my seed spuds in... good or bad idea?

theres a bloke on our plots that does that, I'm going to try soot this year in with the spuds, if I remember

Thinking of using nematodes myself but i hear they pricey!

did some searching a few weks ago and the best price I found was £19.95 for 100 sq metres or £9.95 for 40 square metres - and free delivery - www.savetheplants.co.uk

I'll be ordering some shortly too, hopefully 1 treatment will give the plants 6 weeks headstart, can't really afford to get much more - although I might get a small pack later on as I'm sure I read that slugs only attack spuds much later on in the year - I lost loads to slugs last year

yes your right most damage is done later in the season, I tend to find little or no damage on my earlies but loads on the main crop in fact last year I lost most of my main crop to them
