I bought a marjorie seedling plum tree 2 years ago cant remember where it was from.... this is the first year we have plums, however they are ready now and are yellow.  They are lovely and sweet, does anyone have any idea what type they could be.....taste very much like victoria and similair size but yellow, no hint of any other colour. they are soft on the tree now.

If they were little plums, I would be thinking Mirabelle.  But at the size of a Victoria ....  Golden Drop perhaps?  But they shouldn't be ready yet I wouldnt have thought?

they are a good size maybe a bit smaller than victoria but not by much at all.and def ready they almost fall off if touch them.. ive looked in my books and cant find anything..all are ready we have a total of 5 left...

The only thing I can think of is a cherry plum.

Maybe a golden gage -- they seem to fit the description

Yep. I have an Oullins Golden Gage tree and I just picked them. Plum sized, flushed yellow and I think they taste nicer than plums

Sadly I've lost my Golden Gage this year because it fell down, I think partly because of weight of fruit, partly repeated nudges by every delivery van/lorry that came down my driveway, and the last straw was a night of very wet and windy weather. I did manage to salvage this year's crop though, and I will be planting a new one this autumn, exactly the same variety. It's the best fruit tree I've ever had. It only took a couple of years to get going, has consistently had a very heavy crop every single year, and the fruit are just lovely. They make great jam, taste lovely fresh and cook and freeze very well. There's not many plum varieties that can equal all those good qualities.
