Flies in compost??

Not sure if this is the right forum for this question, but here goes....
I've noticed that since opening a bag of BandQ multipurpose compost and using it sow seeds and to pot up a few things, that there are small flies in the kitchen where the seeds are.
Has anyone else had this?
What type of fly are they? They don't seem to affect germination rate but they are really annoying.

Have a look at this -- they sound like Sciarid flies

Has anyone else had these in this compost? I've not experienced them before in any compost I've bought.

I don't think they necessarily arrive with the compost, they just arrive all on their own

I have had them sometimes, and a quick squirt with Doff seems to send them on their happy way. They are annoying rather than cause too much damage I think
