We bought two last year from Aldi. Planted one at home and one at the plot.

The one at home died because the local moggy's were using the base of newly turned soil as a toilet!  >:(

The one at the plot is growing nicely, it didn't fruit, but we put that down to being a new / young tree.

Morello cherries don't mind shade, and can be trained flat to a wall too.

You can just plant it straight inot the ground, it doesn't need anything special. Just make sure the hole is around 75cm across and deep, so that there is enough space for the roots to grow out from the rootball, easily and the sides of the hole don't act as sump when it rains.

I always loosen the roots from the outside of the rootball, to encourage them not to grow around in a circle.

Keep it weel watered for the first summer, and remember that birds like to eat cherries as much as you do, so you will have to net the tree in some way

Hope all that helps  :D
