Aidy, what a lovely post. To remember all those peaceful times you had with him then to go out fishing again to relive all those experiences. He must have been a wonderful dad to teach you how to catch three trouts in your welly-boots!
Head and tail them, get some kitchen foil and smear butter on the inside, plaice (sorry, couldn't resist the pun) said trout, apply a bit of salt, pepper, parsley, dill, tarragon or whatever takes your fancy (sorry, my OH chef isn't available 'cos he's doing scampi in a cream and brandy sauce for my dinner) then roll the foil up to make a parcel, put it on a baking tray then set the oven for 160 degrees C. In the meantime, prepare whatever veg you desire but take into account how long they need to cook. Personally, I'd rather put the trout in the buttered foil in the late afternoon with whatever seasoning and herbs I fancy to leave it to absorb all the aromatic flavours, prepare veg as per, then decide what time you want to eat it. Best to write it down in order otherwise memory can be a fickle thing especially if you forgot to put the oven on!
