Rhubarb seeding
« on: May 03, 2013, 15:26 »
I've got several clumps of rhubarb around my veg plot. They are all very productive apart from one which is probably the youngest at about five years old. This keeps throwing out seeding heads and fewer edible stalks, the others don't. Is there a reason for this and can it be stopped?

We had a very poor rhubarb on our second plot so we dug it out and put it in at home in a bed that everything else died in, this year it's huge and looks as healthy as can be, it's ten times the size it ever was on the plot. No idea what was going on, but comfrey is now happy in the rhubarbs old bed.

As for flowers just snap them off. Ours flowered non stop back in 2011 we just kept taking them off and touch wood it's been fine since
