I pulled up my first parsnip today, it was in perfect condition and tasted delicious with dinner this afternoon.
My first year as a allotment holder is drawing to a close and I am very happy with what I have acheived this year. My spring cabbages are in, so are my over-winter broad beans, colly and kale.
My leaks, sprouts and the cabbages I planted earlier in the year seem to be growing better than ever, its as if they are loving this cooler, wetter weather.
I have to say, Im luvin my allotment!! ;)

Your first parsnip of the season is always amazing. I photographed mine and emailed pic to OH @ work, I was so pleased with it. Sad .... I know.

I did the same!! I was convinced there was nothing much down there and when I dug the parsnip up, it was 18 inches long. The picture makes people laugh so it is all good.

And you beat me! :tongue2: Mine was only 17"!!!

Well, I will probably cheer you up now as I dug another up yesterday and it was only 10 inches!!
