Adal I'm not sure why you've posted this in the welcome section  ??? so have moved it to the right section ...  :)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I would say save you money, not worth the time or effort in my view.

I suspect you will not have enough of the right type of material to feed to it?

In my experience, the smaller electric machines do seem to be a fine way of using up a few more hours than you have to spare. Coupled with their ability to clog up at any and every opportunity they get, I'd have to say, I agree with Jimbeekeeper. :)

Shredders can be choosy about what they eat , my old Alco shredder does not like soft growth but is great with straight twiggy stuff and branches up to an 30mm diameter.
My shredder earns it`s money every year mulching the buddleia cuttings, mainly because it only cost me £10 at the recycling centre. :)

We have a mountfield which is great. It eats anything up to 40mm.  But it crushes more than chops. It ate a large apple tree in a couple of hours.
always have a target
and an objective.

Must admit that I like my little electric shredder as it's great to simply plug it in. I don't chip branches because I snap them to length for the woodburner pile. I've only the twiggy bits, masses of them due to our huge maple trees, and they slide through the shredder a treat. Leaves were slow so I won't bother again. But I'm waiting to try soft growth like stalks this summer (just got my shredder in Oct).

I have a Bosch 2200 quiet shredder, brilliant on branches up to 2 inches and on brambles. also rolled cardboard, direction can be reversed to clear a jam. But it is hopeless on soft material just clogs and reverse is no good with soft stuff either.

Wouldn't be without it though

Electric garden shredders are generally split into 2 different types of machine; the quiet or drum shredder and the impact shredder. The drum or quiet shredders work with a crushing mechanism and are therefore particularly good at mulching hard, fibrous material such as branches. The impact shredder is more aggressive and generally has a spinning disc with 1 or 2 sharp blades attached. These blades cut into all types of material including soft kitchen waste and leaves as well as branches. They are more noisy than the drum shredders though.

In brief, you need to decide what type of garden waste you will be processing most often before you make a purchase.
