I'm planning to plant garlic, shallots, onions winter cauliflower (Alpen), peas and spring cabbage over the winter ready for next year.
However, when the heavy rains, the relentless frost and the heavy snow comes (if it was anything like last year) will such crops be ok or do I need to do any special protection for them?

As long as they are all classed as winter hardy varities then they will be fine
