Title: Grow lights in 'cool' greehouse - What is possible?
Post by: adri on December 03, 2018, 17:19
Hi

I've bought 3 x 10w LED grow lights from IKEA and made a bulb canopy over a bench.  The greenhouse is frost free but I don't want to be putting in a full on fan heater all winter as that would seem wasteful.

I'd like to get some use out of the LEDs and I do have a heated bench for some bottom heat and also one of those Super 7 heated propagators.

Suggestions as to things that could be either sown or brought indoors under the lights would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Adri

I'm a lot further south than you, but I can get winter salad leaves, mustard greens, chervil, parsley and oriental greens out of my cold greenhouse (no heat or grow lights).

With your set-up, you should at least be able to keep yourself in fresh green leaves like those.  I'd have a go at spinach and kale as well for baby leaves.
