Well we have 4 little ducklings running around the brooder now, and 2 eggs in the incubator that are trying to hatch but they've pipped the wrong end! Just had to do a partial shell-optomy to help one of them out that's getting tired,
It hadn't progressed in hours. I didn't want to interfere too much but it's still not doing much. Not sure if they'll make it, watch this space!  I'm just amazed I've got 4 healthy ones, my kids absolutely adore them  :tongue2:

When i kept my parrots, i some times had to incubate the egg if they were left, i had 3  incubaters all with built in
temp / humid senors, but i also had three seperate temp /humid sensor's as stand by,s, also 2 good candlers, as 1 digital scales to weigh the eggs still got them there that good i can tell what a fiver , tenner, weighs ,
I built a 6x6  shed wraped the outside with thick poly then soak some hardboard then featheredge board, on the in side ran wire for lights and sockets, filled in the frame polystyrne  and poly wrap and 1/4 inch ply the lights i had two sorts switch for each white and red, no windows but two fans on timers,  this shed was next to the kitchen extn , so the leccy was easy to fit to the shed fuse box,,but about 5 months later i had no eggs going we had a power cut , so i
spoke to a mate of mine electrician and he said  get a small gen set he will fit some switch gear that will kick in if there is a power cut,, the price of baby parrots it was money well spent, sorry over done it a bit when im out in the garden sunny day i can almost hear the birds again
Good to see you saved some of your brood, and happy birthday

Thanks wapello, sounds like quite a setup you had. Why do you no longer have them if you don't mind me asking?

My aviary 25 ft x 15 ft i laid a concrete  slab down then built aviary on it , with 8 ft on the slab and  7 ft on the dirt  i shingled the flights, at the peak i must of had £15, grands worth birds and chicks, in total years it was 18 from first build untill it went it just got to much with the up keep,, the birds i had ,,,,,blue and gold and scarlet  macaws,,
a / grey parrots ,, blue fronted amazons,,senagals parrots, and Indian ringnecks ,,, not the green one you see flying around in the wild,,
Would i do it again,  YES YES, but not so many birds,,when i went down to feed water and see that there ok the noise
when i went in  they were all trying talk sing whistle, i would come out of there  with my ears stinging,,,
had my new fence put up now so just getting ready for a poly tunnel to go half on the slab and half on the dirt, tried to post some pics but it came back to big just got to see if i can make them smaller,,,
