Title: What time for egg laying?
Post by: wadz81 on May 06, 2009, 12:20
Last night when I got home I went to see the girls, collected the eggs and gave them treats and as soon as Queen Margo had had a hand full of corn and a stroke she went into the coop and layed her egg! ::) Is this normal for a chicken to wait till the nest box has been emptied before they lay, it was about 5pm the latest they've layed so far ???

I popped home at 10:30 this morning to check the hens and found three eggs in one box!  They have four nest boxes to choose from, but for some reason, chose to all lay in one!  Thank goodness the eggs were intact.

Ours all lay in the same nest box apart from the sussex, Sally, she always lays in the one attached to the side of the run and always digs the straw out first strange creatures
