Reusing chitted potatoes.
« on: May 19, 2022, 11:33 »
Emptied a large plant pot of spuds the other day. Obviously a bit early as there were loads of tiny spuds. The  chitted spuds were in perfect condition.  The spuds were ordinary supermarket spuds but no idea which ones.  But they were very very nice. I have no idea if the other plant pots have the same spuds. Anyone used the same seed spuds twice?

The advice I have always heard is to use true seed potatoes in the first place (considered less likely to introduce persistent diseases or pests).

For the same reason, I suspect the smart choice is to not use this crop's potatoes to grow another crop later on.

In the end, the decision is yours of course.  Good luck with your potatoes!

I would have thought they'd used all their available 'eyes' on the first sprouting, but it will be interesting to find out what happens.
Good luck and remember to let us know - either way  :D

Through one away but the other two may produce. Although the sprouting looks a little different!!
I have planted them in a pot.
