I got a pseudo-mattock at Lidl this past Thursday. Got to try it out today. It works pretty well for £2.50. It's one like the "lightweight adzalas" on the get digging site... it's got a V-shaped fork on oneside and a mattock-type bit on the other. Seems to crack open those hard clumps of clay pretty well... can't help but feel a bit like a prisoner breaking stones, though  :? Hoping for more rain this week!

Makes the husband a bit nervous when I'm using it near him... he keeps seeing the pointy fork end coming up near him tho i don't lift it *that* high to do harm...
