potatoe help.

hi all, need some help,
I put my 1st earlys  and lates in on the 20 march,
 the 1st earlys were ready at end of june,
the were  fantastic, but now when we boil them they turn to a mush,
the potatoes were pentland javelin, and international kidney,
whats gone wrong,

Perhaps you need to steam them - or at least gently cook them for as short a time as possible.

Potatoes tend to do that at this time of year. There must be a scientific reason why? They will be OK later, in the meantime either steam them or turn the heat off just before they start to break up.

I once had similar problems like this and contacted the supplier - the reply suggested uneven watering (dry conditions followed by heavy watering/rain) as the cell walls in the tuber becoming separated, on cooking, this results in mushy potatoes.
