Transplanting seedlings.
« on: May 25, 2020, 16:03 »
Last evening, I split the seed tray of small Sweet Williams, and planted a few clumps in the beds.   They were very well watered before hand.   The ground was so hard, it was difficult to make holes.   Watered again early this morning and by about 10.30am  they had all completely flopped.   I am guessing it is the heat and sun.  Will they recover. ?    Mrs Bouquet

Yes, I think it'll be a combination of root stress from being divided, and heat stress.

Make sure they are watered a lot and they've got a chance.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Thanks for your reply,  I have given them a good drink at 8am then another one about 2pm.    The first drink was all over, the second just at the root.    They are looking better,  thanks again  Mrs B
