I have just put my runners in here - South Coast!
Checking ahea on forecast weather will get cooler around 20th April so have protected them with polythene/fleece  has anyone else had success with this method to get early runners?

I haven't but it's the equivalent of growing them on in pots first so I would have thought it would work.
Has anyone tried growing runners in a partially-shaded bed? I've a yen to grow them up the fence down the side of my plot but it is shaded until early afternoon - would they grow? And if not is there any other climbing thing that might?

I've grown runners in the shady part of the garden and found they actually appreciate a bit of shade for some part of the day...the plants and crop were much better than those that received full sun for the whole day.

I've always avoided growing runners in the shade, but i've got just the spot for them, thanks ziggywigs
