Blue Maran???
« on: September 14, 2010, 22:29 »
I have kindly been given a few birds by a friend who lives close by..

I think they are blue marans, but they look a different shape to my cuckoo maran...

Any ideas...

I have never seen such long legs and big head before!!!  Might turn into a swan....

Any idea on sex as well ;)
I love Pekins, Polands and Seramas :) and eggs!!!

Yep thats the raptor that I couldnt spell :D

How soon, and how do you see its a boy...... they were given as boys but with a pink possibility :)

But the last freebies I grew on turned out to be two rather magnificent silver dorking cockerels, which had I asked earlier, I could have sexed by their absence of a brown chest!!!

Never mind, they were so lovely that they both got new homes that didnt involve a cooking pot and are currently called Gilbert and Sullivan!!!

I dont really have it in my plan for the winter though to bring two more cockerels on :(

Hi, looking at the photo it looks like there are feathers going down the legs - is this right or is it just my eyes playing up? If it is feathers then I shouldn't have thought it would be a Maran. But as I say, it could just be my eyes messing around  :)

Cant tell what it is, but does look like it got some crow in it... :D

Could be a Maran as the orginal French birds had feathered legs. Maybe in a few weeks you post another pic, as at the moment it ooks like something from Jurassic Park

Have now discovered by looking at the ebay listing the eggs came from, that they are Copper Blue french Marans!!!

Hope that means as they are both uniform grey that they may both be hens!!!  :)  ha ha.... wishful thinking :)

Please dont call it ugly, it will get a complex. I was never told my my mother that I was pretty, so I always thought I was ugly..still do truth be told!

last thing it needs is a complex  ???  - and I'm sure your mother thought you were beautiful even if she didn't say so, some mums worry about breeding vanity instead of confidence,  I'm sure you are lovely inside and out and well loved  :D
