chickens can carry an illness called blackhead, which isn't dangerous to them but is to turkeys. Some people keep them both if they have plenty of space but they worm their flock monthly and their animal husbandry is second to none. Their turkeys have a separate sleeping place as they don't perch and would get pooped on by the chickens. It isn't generally advised to have both together.
