is it time for me to chuck the plants away as they are going mouldy :( my yellow toms are just starting to turn from green to yellow though :)

sounds like botrytis :unsure:
You can cut off all the foliage that has brown or grey markings on, and the bad fruit, obviously. This might give enough time for the rest of the toms to ripen on the plants.

Mine's definitely got a bit of botrytis here and there - I just chop the affected bits off and the rest of the plant seems to do ok ;)

::) i got a bit annoyed and now i only have one plant :wub: i do have lots of green toms though ???

If they are of a good size (for the variety) and have started to turn colour as you suggest you should be able to ripen them OK in a warm place indoors.
