hi, boil all the left over veg peel ie: carrots,greens,parsnip,spud peel etc once soft drain it mash it up put some mixed corn in stir it well. Get some plastic cups pierce a hole in the bottom of the cup pull the string through the cup so it comes out the bottom tie a big knot, then hold the string straight then put the mix in the cup around the string fill to the top then freeze. Once fully frozen peel the plastic cup off and hang it up for them. My chickens love it keeps them busy for hours. Stand the cups in a plastic container to freeze if they wont stay upright in there.

I am going to try this, but only make one as I have found what some hens like, others turn their noses up to...  I made a raid on my neighbour's maize field just before it was harvested a couple of weeks ago, thinking I would get a free treat for my flock.  I took great delight in hanging up a couple of cobs of corn thinking my hens would get a lot of pleasure from this.  They completely ignored them.  I think they must have been the wrong sort of corn because if I open a tin of sweetcorn, they practically trample over each other to get to it!
