Hi guys, I really would appreciate some help. I want to build a plastic thingy to grow my tomatoes in the garden. I was thinking that i could nail some plastic on my fence then put some wood across to attatch everything else to but then I get stuck. Having only ever made a mess before this really is new territory for me.

trial and error i only way to learn, personaly i would fold plastic a few times and wedge between baton and fence then screw rather then nail, easier to put in, get out, and its stronger.

Right need to know a couple of things first
Is it a solid fence if yes then only a roof and three sides needed
Is it an open fence if yes then a back is needed as well now that bits simple pin a piece of strong polythene to the fence one back now made
11 pieces of wood needed Roofing lathes from the builder merchants are ideal
4 'legs'
4 'spacers'
3 'rails'
The legs are how high you want it 4ft high 4ft legs
The spacers are hoe deep you want it 2ft deep 2ft spacers
The rails are how long you want it 4ft long 4 ft rails
OK so cut all you bits of wood
now take two legs and 2 spacers place the legs flat on the floor and the spacers on top so you have an oblong shape nail it all together.
Repeat now you have two ends
Fasten the rails to three corners of your two ends so the whole thing will stand up
Put it next to the fence and fasten it to the fence.
Cover the ends with strong polythene
Then get another piece of polythene to make the top and front fasten this to the back rail against the fence and drape it down the front make sure there is a big overlap onto the ground hold the polythene down tight with a couple of house bricks
Good luck

wow Celtic you are a whizz I will have a go but do you think you could draw a pic to help me? The fence is solid thick and 6ft tall. The sun will be on it at some part most of the day. I would like to have room to stand and put some staging in thart I got very cheap from an ex catalogue shop. Can't wait for the snow to stop now! It's about 6inches deep in my garden so far. Ah well from rain to snow! Maybe we will even gety sun this year!
