I think it's beautiful and would like one in my (OK the councils) hedge at the back of my garden

Is it ceanothus? If so, it's a shrub

It might be, I can't see the flowers well. Will take my glasses and go out that way earlier in the day when waslking dog tomorrow I think

They are lovely, just picked up one from the garden centre

Lots of varieties to suit different heights/habits as well.
