Growing in pots

Hi

So on my allotment I have one area which used to have a shed on .

It's super stoney and there are bits of carpet and plastic sheeting under the top soil .


So my question is what's good to grow in pots ?

I don't need the area and it will be alot of work to dig all the rubbish up.

The area could accommodate alot of pots

I have water butts spread out and a compost area so I can't really think of another use of the area

I think you could grow a range of things in the pots, tomatoes, lettuce, herbs. Different idea though could you grow squashes outside of the area in decent soil and let them trail over the stones?
When I have grown squash they seem to wander all over the plot!
