I can vouch for mum's recipe!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

My husband and son (3 years old) made some yesterday using Mary Berry's recipe from her cake book.  Had one last night for supper and it was absolutely marvellous.  they didn't put peel in though because I don't really like it and it was lacking anything for its exclusion.

Yum!  They look amazing Grendel!!  We pciked up some from morrisons last week and although they were nice, they weren't that good.  Was going to try M+S ones this weekend but home made might be the better option...

I did the Paul hollywood recipe too, but tweaked the fruit to suit. Hate candied peel so substituted cherries and orange and lemon zest. Very rich and lovely. Here are a few.

I bought the chocolate m and s ones off the tv ad and they were such a let down  :( should have stuck with tradition and made some at home, lesson learnt  im very jealous of your lovely batch Grendel!

I tried the Paul Hollywood too over the weekend.  Worked out very well but a little heavier than store bought ones, thanks again for the good idea grendel  ;)
